Using the new Alfa Laval ThinkTop
and burst clean,
trials have revealed that up to 90%
of CIP liquid can be saved,
significantly lowering
the operating costs compared
to the traditional (PLC)
timer-controlled seat lift.
Using the Alfa Laval Unique
Mixproof Valve DN65.
We have a Valve Air supply
pressure of 6 bar.
CIP liquid pressure is at 1.5 bar.
The CIP liquid temperature is 21.7 C.
And finally, the high fat content
product used is peanut butter.
Here we show the Burst
Clean in action.
The burst seat clean is activated
by a rising PLC seat lift signal
and is independent of
the PLC timer length.
The PLC seat lift timer must be
turned “OFF” and “ON” again
to trigger another burst seat clean.
Two ‘burst seat cleans’ 1 fast seat lift,
taking less than a second
is enough to clean peanut
butter from the valve.
It can be used in existing ThinkTop
Classic installations
without reprogramming the
PLC seat lift signal
or timer in PLC software.
To verify the fast pay-back
times and calculate
the potential
savings on CIP liquid,
Alfa Laval has developed
a sophisticated tool,
Alfa Laval Joules,
for analyzing and quantifying
efficiency improvements.
The CIP liquid consumption during
Burst Seat Clean on different
Mixproof valve sizes can

Product Data sheet for ThinkTop.
