We started to talk about the current situation
we are living in right now
and the increases in energy costs.
And they asked us: what can you do for us?
My name is Belén Villalba.
I work as a sales engineer for Alfa Laval, mainly with
food and beverage customers.
I usually visit the customers not just when
they need a new unit.
We usually visit them to understand their needs.
You know, the market is changing all the time,
so we need to adapt to their new demands.
I think efficiency is the main factor when you are speaking
with a customer about a plate heat exchanger.
Efficiency is what all customers are looking for
and actually it’s the main job of the unit.
What I see in the in the customer plants right now
is that due to the big changes around the world
– regarding energy for example
they need to look for options inside their plant
to reduce the costs.
So they are putting some efforts into the efficiency
of the plate heat exchanger
because they see those units as cost-saving units.
They can extract more energy from them and use
that energy in other parts of the plant.
Nowadays, efficiency and sustainability are some
of the main goals for our customers.
Some customers have their own sustainability
strategies to meet the demands
not only of the process but also of the law and
the new way of working and living.
So sustainability is becoming more and
more a real thing
and an important thing for the process and
for the lives of everybody.
When we studied each position, we realized that they
were spending too much water in some units.
So, we made a redesign and reduced the consumption
of water and energy in those units.
This also reduced the pressure drop – and they
were really, really happy.
